12 South Captital was founded by Alan Grissom, the former head of Business and Global Head of Insurance at S&P Dow Jones Indices, who managed Wall Street’s leading index business with over 15 trillion of assets tied to their investment strategies.

Alan is widely considered one of the insurance industries leading experts regarding indexed linked insurance products. In 2022, he saw the potential to revolutionize the indexed annuity space with the S&P 500IQ concept so he started 12 South Capital to do something crazy, let main street win.

Today we take that knowledge and optimize indices for FIA products, but what we are about isn’t about customizing indices to credit in FIAs - although we do that well, we do that better than almost anybody - but 12 South Capital is about something more than that.
